Statement from Oldcastle Theatre Company Board of Trustees
The Oldcastle Theatre Company Board of Trustees was surprised by the sudden action taken by the Bennington Center for the Arts terminating Oldcastle’s residency after 18 years. We are determined this will be a new beginning for Oldcastle and have already begun exploring possible new venues.
Oldcastle Theatre Company will complete its 40th season at the Art Center and next year will continue entertaining and enlightening enthusiastic audiences as it has done four decades. We are extremely grateful for the many, many words of encouragement, praise and love we have received in the last few days. It has been gratifying and heartwarming to receive such support from the community. Telephone calls, emails and Facebook posts of support have come from all over the country. Thank you.
We have received many suggestions of possible new homes for the theatre company. We look forward to continuing to hear ideas from the community. We want Oldcastle’s quest for a new, permanent home to be a community-wide effort and look forward with vigor and determination to the task ahead.
